No longer the romanticized alt-grunge haven, Sub Pop is now the quintessential home to many of the finest indie rock groups in the business. So, in celebration of two strong decades at the forefront of cool, the Seattle imprint is throwing itself a birthday bash. Dubbed the SP20 Festival, the concert will take place July 12-13 at Marymoor Park in Redmond, Washington. A star-studded set list will feature performances by both veterans – a reunited Green River (whose members would later form Mudhoney and Pearl Jam), Mudhoney, Seaweed - and newbies – Iron & Wine, Low, Flight of the Conchords, Kinski, Helio Sequence, et al.
Bonus: a limited revival of the Sub Pop singles club and plenty of back catalog reissues are in store, so stay tuned.
