Dangerbird Records artists are an odd bunch. That’s not to say that I don’t love everything that happens there, I sort of do, and Dappled Cities [Official, Myspace] are one of the acts I really grew to love while I was working at TVT and that I cannot wait to see really soon. The video here, “Fire Fire Fire,” shows a lighter side to the band’s ephereal, poetic music, showing them dressed as some sort of indigenous Eskimo people freezing on a sound stage. The effect is that they simultaneously invoke comparisons to 80s children’s show, Zoobilee Zoo, which I am sure is due for a big screen remake any day now.
The guys took up residency in New York last summer, playing Mercury Lounge at least 3 times that I saw, but sometimes I am wrong. No worries.
Either way, watch the video and enjoy.
Check out Holly’s review of Granddance [Review]. She’s coming back soon to disagree on what makes indie pop good, bad or just plain wrong and it couldn’t happen at a better time.
