Rolling Stone Changes its Format

Simply put, Rolling Stone [link] is little more than a rag.  And it has been for quite some time now.  I was a subscriber for years, from high school through college.  Through my tenure as “reader,” I gradually realized that the content suffered with each addition of advertising space.  Eventually, those pesky print ads shanghaied the entire magazine.  That’s when I called it quits, and decided against renewing my subscription.

Needless to say, Rolling Stone was desperate for my business.  Their retention department called me on a number of occasions to “sweeten” the deal.  To no avail.  My reply was the same each time, that they couldn’t pay me enough to return.  I’m sure many Radio Exile readers felt and acted in the same manner.

But why tell you all this?  Well, Jann and company just recently ended the large tabloid format.  It’s the proverbial end of an era.  To mark such a monumental change, the editors put Obama on the first new cover.  That’s quite the political endorsement, wouldn’t you say?
