Deer Tick Hitting the Road for Flag Day

deertick2

Deer Tick [Myspace] (John McCauley and crew) are known for creating the type of music that fits the notion of traveling the country in a big steel bus. Seriously, I always think about filming some sort of “going away” montage for a coming-of-age piece, but all it feels like is a bad scene from some 50s montage or 8 Mile, and the second doesn’t really fit my vision. Oh well. Living in Rhode Island, yes, Deer Tick are from our union’s tiniest state, has obviously influenced their sound in ways we’d find very unexpected, and word is they’re also already hard at work on their follow-up to War Elephant, the tentatively titled, Born on Flag Day. No release date has been announced.

After a strong year of tour dates with Jenny Lewis and The Felice Brothers, Deer Tick have announced a new slate of dates that will send the band rollicking through the Northeast, Midwest, and down to Austin for SXSW.
