Get it? It’s a pun! Oh man, I completely love puns.
Anyway, I got a great email over the weekend about Brooklyn Vegan‘s response to this band, The Drums [MySpace. I checked them out to see what they were all about as outside of the email touting that they were "Factory Records-inspired," I hadn't heard much about them which is more of an indictment of my own complacency the past month more than anything else.
Check out some mp3s and their upcoming "tourdates" after the jump
"How often can a band’s FIRST live performance impress? Not too often. But New York’s THE DRUMS did just that. Stellar at New York City Popfest, their Factory Records inspired sounds made Brooklyn Vegan state they were “…arguably the highlight of the final day of NYC Popfest.” Not too long after, New York’s taste maker The L Magazine couldn’t resist and added their two cents, “…"a massively likable, not to mention danceable, blend of gloomy 80s pop, 90s indie-pop and 50s surf-rock…” But wait, it doesn’t end there. The purveyors of everything cool, Sup Mag described the band perfectly, “Simultaneously dipping into the sounds of '50s surf culture and Factory Records for inspiration (for reals), the result is nothing short of drive-with-the-top-down amazing.”

Thanks Holly. Occasionally, I am struck with the inspiration of a far-wittier person.
