Coldplay Tribute to Beastie Boys at APW

Part of my lack of coverage of All Points West this year had more to do with my general malaise toward the lineup in general AND due to the inclusion of Coldplay on the Sunday bill as headliner. I am not a super indie snob, but I just hate the hell out of them.

This morning, I saw a really great video from last night’s performance that was floating around Twitter and while we do think that Chris and co. are thieving twats, this was a nice homage to the Beastie Boys who had to cancel their headlining gig on Friday due to MCA‘s (Adam Yauch) cancer discovery.

This performance of “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)” was shot shortly before Coldplay broke into “Viva La Vida” or “How We Stopping Writing Our Own Stuff and Started Ganking Melodies” as you can hear the beginning of that very song at the end of the clip. Either way, a fitting tribute to MCA that shows he is in a lot of people’s thoughts right now.
