Video Hook-Up: Loney Dear – “I Was Only Going Out”

Loney

New video from Loney Dear [MySpace] whom we love and cherish deeply. His latest, Dear John, came out in January and it’s really great. I am a bit sad that Emil has dropped the superfluous comma from the band name, but who am I to complain; I add my middle initial to my pen name and that makes me sound very pretentious, doesn’t it?

This tip game courtesy of Broken Dial/Radio Exile founder, Greg Wind, whom we all miss a great deal. No, he didn’t pass on or anything, he just got tired of being a blogging ninja-dad.

  1. And you thought I didn’t care. I seriously love this video and song. Thanks for posting it.

  2. There’s nothing wrong with a superfluous comma, or an apostrophe – for that matter :)

Great video. Awesome song! I was just having a conversation with a friend yesterday who strongly felt that more tunes should feature whistling. I will have to pass this along to him.

  3. Mason, I hope your friend is an Andrew Bird fan. If not, he should be!

  4. Thanks Greg! You know, I’m not sure, but that’s a great call. He’s doing some really cool stuff. So is Fat Possum. Their whole roster is pretty badass and it’s great to see them really helping to put a spotlight on independent artists.

On an unrelated note, do you know of a way to receive an e-mail notification when someone makes a comment on a post on which you’ve also commented? (I’m sure there’s a word for that) I just happened to re-visit this post. It would have been super lame if I’d missed your suggestion.

  5. Sorry, Mason, I don’t believe there is. Shawn would know, though.

  6. I am looking into this, as I think it should be in the site’s default settings depending on the comments plug-in.
