DJ Hero features more than 80 remixes of two different songs from a selection of over 100 different songs across numerous genres. The game features both a single player Career mode and cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes. The game also features a mode for selected songs for a DJ player to play alongside another player using a Guitar Hero guitar controller.

I love Em’s comment “as soon as I master it, it’s going to be fun,” because (a) isn’t that what we all say about Rock Band/GH, and (b) it’s nice to know even people w/ DJ experience suck at this at first.

The game looks amazing, The addition of guitar on some tracks makes it really exciting to be able to play with other people as well. If it only came with free glow sticks it might be the perfect game.
The track list itself looks amazing, nice mix of new and older songs can’t wait to hear them all especially the Beastie Boys.
Love Guitar Hero but not sure I can this one. We’ll see.
Eminem saying that he’s going to be better at the game than Jazzy Jeff… in a few years… is a testiment to how amazing JJ is.
However, if I won this, I would probably be better than both of them. Word.

I love mash-ups (when they’re good… haha), and it sounds like there are some insanely good ones in DJ Hero!
I just loved this post and bookmarked your blog!
I love that Eminem is back on the music scene. It’s nice to see him doing something fun.
Just as someone said before, love that Em is back. Was a big fan of Guitar Hero, but me beiig someone who is a huge HipHop/Rap fanatic, this is perfect. Love the look, the song list. Big upgrade from Guitar Hero.
Dj Hero looks dope. IM gonna He better than dj jazzy jeff eminem dre daft punk everybody lol
i ment be
I hope em blazes on the scene like he did during his debut..he owned it!
I think the Daft Punk commercial really sells the product better than the Jay Z/Eminem commercial, but I understand why they went that route. Looking forward to hearing the mixes in this game almost more than actually playing it, if that’s possible.
I really hope this does well. Just seeing how far Guitar Hero/Rock Band have come since the beginning, it’s amazing to think of where DJ Hero could end up. In the third or fourth game they could give you a bunch of samples and such to make your own remixes, which you could then upload for other players to play, or you could download what others have created and check that out.
DJ Hero is quite possibly the greatest video game in existence. Activision reinvents the way we think of gaming, specifically rhythm games, again. Over 80 mixes are expertly synthesized by DJ legends such as Grand Master Flash of Run DMC and DJ Jazzy Jeff of Fresh Prince fame. But a gathering of epic DJs just isn’t enough for Activision, no, they had to get the best of the best artists involved. Not only did they get a titan of hip-hop like Jay-Z but they happened to get one of the most influential and respected electronica duos of all time: Daft Punk. Nothing can describe the feelings I had when I saw the commercial for the first time. The song “Around the World” blasting in surround sound as digital replicas of Daft Punk spin the track. This is the only time in the history of the universe and everything in it that anyone has been HAPPY to see a commercial in HD and surround sound. As if this wasn’t enough, no, Activision got Slim Shady himself to speak real about the quality of the game. Eminem even goes as far as to say that after getting good at the game a player could move into a studio and step up to a turntable and spin something legitimate. This is something that Guitar Hero fails to duplicate–the feeling that you’re learning something as well as having an amazing time.
Activision is a juggernaut in the gaming industry and is constantly pushing the boundaries of gaming. You can tell they really care about their customers when they put so much effort into not just making a game but creating one that is respected by the artists and DJs that it is based on. So, thank you, Activison, for publishing what is arguably the greatest video gaming experience that this or any other generation will have the pleasure of putting their hands on and spinning some mixes with.
I have to give credit to the original Guitar Hero for really getting me into music, and to Rock Band for expanding that even more, and now DJ Hero has really gotten me interested in an entire new kind of music than I’ve really known before.
Plus Daft Punk’s helmets just look cool.
I think this game looks hella pimp. I like how EM was bein his normal cocky self but ends with ill be better than Jazzy…………in a couple years. lol.
I wonder if you can make your own mixes on this game and record em?
Keep practicing Marshall you can do it!!!! You can top the DJ Hero charts!!!
The game interests me quite a bit with big names like Daft Punk.
I mean, who doesn’t like Daft Punk?
I wanna win! This game is dope, cool ads and site.
My daughter got Guitar Hero for her bithday last year. It is a great game because it gives her the opportunity to learn new skills and compete with her friends, as well as her brother and her Dad, and with hard work and practice gain the confidence to be a performer…even be a rock star if she wants too. I think it’s great that Eminem acknowledges that it takes hard work and practice to achieve your goals. I think that DJ Hero would be a great experience for my daughter.
Eminem ftw
The commercials were really sweet. It would be so awesome if I won this game, I would brag to my friends about it haha.
Game has a great soundtrack and quality controller – nice change from using a plastic guitar.
i own all guitar heros and i love them! They are so much fun and i could play them for hours on end. Unfortunately i am unable to play them because i am now dorming. I am really excited for dj hero because it has more music from genres that i enjoy. When i first saw the Justice commercial and the intro to Genesis i was instantly hooked. One of my favorite songs of all time. This Halloween i was able to see them live and they were amazing!!! This was the first time seeing the daft punk clip and around the world is just a classic. When they played at coachella in 2006 it was supposedly one of the best and most epic sets of all time. I have seen the songs that are on dj hero from different blogs and i am really impressed by the variety and song selection. On my free time i use virtual dj to mix songs for fun, although i am not that good i can do the basics, but i am learning. It would be cool to be able to see the difference. For the last clip, i don’t think it is as appealing to me because i am not really into jay z or eminem. I also dont know how well the dj game is going to convert over to real djing like eminem was talking about until i see how the game really works. You guys are doing an amazing job and i hope you keep up the good work. I cant even imagine what you come up with next.
Heck, I’d consider buying this just for the Daft Punk music. Those guys are awesome.
Although I’m horrible at all the guitar games I could see myself being good at this one …
All the guitar games were great but this looks like nice change of pace.
I prefer being a DJ to a guitar player. I think the groupies would be hotter…
This game is amazing. That’s all there is to it. I’ve been a big fan, literally and figuratively, of the DJ scene for a long time. Ever since my cousin took me down into his basement and showed me his turntables and what he could do with them. When I heard about this game I was a little hesitant about it. I mean really? But after getting my hands on a demo and listening to the music I am eager to get a copy of this game for myself.
The coolest thing that I got from this post was that Daft Punk seems to be in the game. And that is alright in my books. Also I am with Eminem on this one, man who would have thought I would ever say that, I will become better then Jazzy Jeff on this game.
Looks like fun! Tried it out at Best Buy but was baffled by it.
This game looks so good. The mash-ups sound AMAZING, and the inclusion of Daft Punk is a huge plus for me. I’d love to have this.
I am totally looking forward to trying this game out. I am loving the music clips that I have heard and hope the game will live up to the hype…
I am pretty excited about this and would enjoy playing it that much more for free.
I want this badly. Too bad the wallet disagrees.
