A while back, I subscribed to the Vimeo feed for director Jamie-James Medina and today, I consider it among my best decisions of 2009. Like my accidental discovery of Pharaoh Sanders in 2001, I was alerted today to a release from a new artist he’s been working with, BLK JKS [MySpace]. The clip meshes the every day life of the Coney Island-based foursome against the hope and spirit of the nation they call “home” (South Africa). I might never know what it means to jump onto a moving train and surf it, but anyone can recognize the video’s picture of unbridled joy against such a stark future.
Check out the clip and more “after the jump”
