Yesterday, one of the best bands to break out in 2009, The Antlers, premiered their third video from 2009 masterpiece Hospice on IFC.com. Directed by Trey Hock, the clip explores the central themes of smothering helplessness and overwhelming grief in the face of loss, aptly fitting for a song that begins with barely a murmur and rips into a all-out roar within one minute. It’s effing epic.

From the director:

“It is important that the song lead you when making a music video. As I spent time with “Sylvia”, a dark and introspective song which explores a troubled relationship, I tried to think of examples of truly frustrating or tragic unions. I felt that an argument with someone who was not physically there, would be the pinnacle of this type of torment.”
