On this week’s Dirty Laundry TV, Dead Meadow sit down to discuss their new film and soundtrack and several bad acid trips. Seriously? I just had one bad one. That was enough to learn my lesson.

I usually like to write up a video or talk up a track, but I will let the label do that this time. Just seems more “fun” (I am super effing busy!)
“Everyone knows that Hostage is an unstoppable music-making beast of legendary proportions pumping out hit after hit, week in and week out. And he’s been a busy, busy boy since his Radio 1 Essential mix earlier in the summer, playing alongside Annie Mac at the Manchester Apollo, Rockness Festival and he set the Arcadia Afterburner stage at Glastonbury ablaze -literally! Not to be restrained in the slightest, he’s back with 2 killer new tunes on this, his first free EP on Nightshifters.
With “Roll” we see Hostage shows us a slightly more subtle hand, well, that’s before the bass drops! With “The Ba$$” he’s back at his no-holds-barred-kicking-down-the-fucking-rave-door approach with one of the most ridiculous noise-bass drops you’ll hear this year. It’s massive!!”

Little Gold is the Brooklyn-based act from former Woods/Meneguar member Christian DeRoeck, who released a full length (On The Knife) last year and a 7″ with Heart Break Beat Records (Beach House) last month. The trio is currently on a national tour to support the 7″ and get their name out there.

After leaving The Antlers to focus his own work, Justin Stivers has finally put his solo career into motion, with two full albums sitting under his belt. The first release will be his own winter variations EP, set for release on September 14.
According to Justin, “winter variations is a product of schizophrenia. After nearly a year of tracking and mixing Pet Ghost Project’s newest LP Shelf Life (set for release in 2011), focus meandered. The slow process of releasing an album just wasn’t sitting right. (We) were constantly waiting – waiting for the label, waiting for funds, waiting for others to give the go ahead. Enter winter variations, an album born of urgency and immediate gratification. Re-arranging one song off of each album they’ve done in the past and recorded in just 3 short hours (all in one or two takes) at Serious Business Records in New York City. This EP is Pet Ghost Project stripped of all pretension and excess.”
Pet Ghost Project will celebrate the release of winter variations with a special hometown show on September 10 at Cameo Gallery in Brooklyn with Miniboone, Quiet Loudly, and Gunfight!

The White Panda are a mash-up/remix duo (Tom Evans (aka Procrast) and Dan Griffith (aka DJ Griffi)) based out of Chicago and the city of Angels. The duo released their debut album, entitled Versus, on December 28, 2009 and just released their latest album Rematch, on July 2nd, 2010. I want them to remix my office — take the humdrum noise of, well, nothing, and replace it with a bit o’ nothing sprinkled with more rad beats.
That’s just what I think, anyway.

Today, Australian three-piece Clubfeet, drop their debut LP via Plant Music, entitled, Gold On Gold. The band have been getting very favorable reviews and strong comparisons to other bands like Hot Chip, Teenagers, and Junior Boys and are sure to make their way into your hearts with their “Dance-y McFuntime” goodness (*Ssquared created this word. Thanks to our good friends at Baeblemusic for passing along a clip of one of RE’s favorite bands, Local Natives, rocking the piss out of Bowery Ballroom. The clip comes from their sold out NYC show in May (that I was out of town for) but we can click above and watch together forever. Their album, Gorilla Manor, is on constant repeat in my home and office, and my geekiness and love for them knows no bound.s

Remember when we first brought Parades into your lives a few months back? (Damn, that video for “Loserspeak in New Tongue” was awesome!) Now, the band are readying their debut, which will be coming out on Dot Dash, and we’ve got a preview at one of the great new tracks.

LA-based duo, The Polyamorous Affair are gearing up for the release of their latest album, Strange Bedfellows. To celebrate, they’re just handing out mp3s, yo. The first, “Hypnotized,” finds the electro-poppers bending African drums and synth into a bizarre, refreshing and kick-effing-ass dreamscape (I won’t lie, I just wanted to say “dreamscape” today).

Yes, yes, Hell-friggin-yes.
Six weeks until I get to have my face rocked off (once again) by one of my favorite bands in the world: The Sword. No, I am not kidding or being ironic, I consider their third full-length, Warp Riders, among my most eagerly anticipated albums of the year.
Today, Kemado Records and The Sword gave us a little sample of what the band has in store on August 24th and, evidently, the “metal stalwarts” (saw it in the press release and had to use it!) will reveal the album’s plot in more detail through a three-part video saga beginning with the “Tres Brujas” video, followed by clips for “Lawless Lands” and “Night City.”
After the jump, you’ll find more info and goodies from the band. …read full article…

Grand Mal‘s upcoming full-length, Clandestine Songs, will be released July 20th via Sweden’s Groover Recordings. In honor of the approaching release date, Grand Mal will be playing a record release show at Cakeshop on July 16th, 2010.
If you live in NYC, you should be there. If you don’t, we’ll understand. Ha.

For Conor Oberst fans like myself who own every piece of material that the dude has ever put out (I know, it’s an unexpected development, right?) but Omaha, Nebraska’s own Desaparecidos have announced a reunion show, July 31st at the Concert For Equality.

After quick examination, one might think we’re falling in love with Pitchfork TV. Truth-be-told, we’ve never been offered a video premiere and since these guys have them all, we tend to post those. Ha. About this clip:
“Fang Island began, oddly enough, as an art school project while the band members were attending the prodigious Rhode Island School of Design (also the foundation for Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Les Savvy Fav, Six Finger Satellite, Lightning Bolt and some band called the Talking Heads.)
Today, Pitchfork premieres the quintet’s latest video, “Careful Crossers” which was shot in Los Angeles in the storied Glassroom at Sargent House. This marks the band’s third video to debut via the popular site which previously featured the quirky videos for “Daisy” and “Life Coach“.
“Careful Crossers” is the third single off their self-titled debut (out now via Sargent House)

While in Norway several years back, we saw a promising young artist by the name of Moddi. It turns out, he remembered us writing about him and reached out a few months back (and even has a quote from our show review at by:Larm ’08 on his press page!). In that time, we’ve been really enjoying his debut, Floriography (out now in UK/Europe on Impeller) so I want to take a moment to share this clip with you and see if I can’t make you guys fans too.

Turns out that there is news in the Wavves camp. This new clip (courtesy of YoursTruly) is a live performance from Origami Vinyl in Los Angeles with some discussion on the direction of the new album. It’s pretty neat. Their release, King of the Beach, will see it’s digital release on July 1st.

We’ve been swamped at RE the past week or so (if you couldn’t tell) but I want to let you know that we’re still working our butts off. Just want to finish some stuff to make this place more fun for you guys as well. In the mean time, here’s Woods’ new video. Well, actually, here’s a bit about their new album, At Echo Lake:
“With a title like At Echo Lake, the fifth album from New York’s Woods intimates a modern rock aesthetic fully informed by historical manifestations of teenage along with a concomitant feel for the specifics of time and place. The distance between 2007′s At Rear House and 2010′s At Echo Lake may at first seem only semantic but it more properly represents a move from a kind of informal back porch jam ethos to a fully-committed vision of the infinite possibilities of group playing.”
See, now you want to check it out, right? I know that I do.
