Desaparecidos Agree to Reunite at Concert for Equality

For Conor Oberst fans like myself who own every piece of material that the dude has ever put out (I know, it’s an unexpected development, right?) but Omaha, Nebraska’s own Desaparecidos have announced a reunion show, July 31st at the Concert For Equality.

Fang Island are “Careful Crossers”

After quick examination, one might think we’re falling in love with Pitchfork TV. Truth-be-told, we’ve never been offered a video premiere and since these guys have them all, we tend to post those. Ha. About this clip:

Fang Island began, oddly enough, as an art school project while the band members were attending the prodigious Rhode Island School of Design (also the foundation for Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Les Savvy Fav, Six Finger Satellite, Lightning Bolt and some band called the Talking Heads.)

Today, Pitchfork premieres the quintet’s latest video, “Careful Crossers” which was shot in Los Angeles in the storied Glassroom at Sargent House. This marks the band’s third video to debut via the popular site which previously featured the quirky videos for “Daisy” and “Life Coach“.

“Careful Crossers” is the third single off their self-titled debut (out now via Sargent House)

Wavves push up “King of The Beach” Release

Turns out that there is news in the Wavves camp. This new clip (courtesy of YoursTruly) is a live performance from Origami Vinyl in Los Angeles with some discussion on the direction of the new album. It’s pretty neat. Their release, King of the Beach, will see it’s digital release on July 1st.

Darwin Deez w/ Scary Mansion (6/22/10, Santos Party House, NYC)

Radio Exile were lucky enough to be present to see Darwin Deez back home for their first show since NME’s Radar Tour. They’ve been described as “near-genius” pop and that’s what we heard and saw on Monday night; something worth taking lots of rad photos of. I am glad I was wearing shorts because my pants WERE charmed off. …read full article…

Video Hook-Up: Woods – “Death Rattles”

We’ve been swamped at RE the past week or so (if you couldn’t tell) but I want to let you know that we’re still working our butts off. Just want to finish some stuff to make this place more fun for you guys as well. In the mean time, here’s Woods’ new video. Well, actually, here’s a bit about their new album, At Echo Lake:

“With a title like At Echo Lake, the fifth album from New York’s Woods intimates a modern rock aesthetic fully informed by historical manifestations of teenage along with a concomitant feel for the specifics of time and place. The distance between 2007′s At Rear House and 2010′s At Echo Lake may at first seem only semantic but it more properly represents a move from a kind of informal back porch jam ethos to a fully-committed vision of the infinite possibilities of group playing.”

See, now you want to check it out, right? I know that I do.

The Futureheads w/ The Like, Static Jacks (6/8/10, Bowery Ballroom, NYC) Concert Review

Photo: Andrew St. Clair

The Static Jacks may write about escaping their home state. But while you can take the band out of New Jersey, you can’t take the New Jersey out of the band. And boy, do they have that Garden State attitude with songs like ‘Parties and Friends (And Bullshit)’ and ‘My Parents Lied’. Their music is best described as the raw energy of a garage band… but with soul. …read full article…

Say “Yes Yes Yes” to Elsinore

Illinois-makers (ha!) Elsinore have put together an immaculate track here with the tune “Yes Yes Yes” (which you can grab in a minute, bear with us). With the announcement that the Yes Yes Yes full length will be dropping August 10th, we’re salivating. Or, we’re at least very happy. The band are a blast of fresh air, not a breath; knocking the wind from our lungs with fun, energetic melodies and tunes of “the simplistic bliss of life in the Midwest”.

Video Hook-Up: Small Black – “Bad Lover”

Small Black are currently busy with their first tour of Europe, but that hasn’t stopped them from releasing a video for “Bad Lover”. The clip was direct by Nick Bentgen and comes from their self-titled EP, which you can get here. The band will also have a string of U.S. tour dates starting in July, including a stop at West Fest in Chicago and will be finishing their full-length (*hopefully).

moe. Set to Release “Smash Hits Vol. 1″

Very few artists have attracted the sizable following that moe. has without the big budget rock label backing. They’re unique, they’re fun and they’ve never pretended to do anything other than create music that they would enjoy listening to themselves.

On June 1st , moe. will release Smash Hits, Volume 1 on the band’s Fatboy Records label. The album celebrates moe.’s 20th anniversary and includes newly recorded fan favorites that encompass the band’s entire career.

To celebrate the occasion, the band are giving away a ton of free stuff and touring like mad (*which isn’t all that unusual for them as it is) which you can check out “after the jump” …read full article…

Video Hook-Up: Nada Surf – “Electrocution”

On their latest LP, the forthcoming covers album if i had a hi-fi, Nada Surf deliver a solid experience of covers from front-to-back. This clip features the band walking us through the four seasons of the year to highlight the universality (*just kidding, I have no idea) of “Electrocution,” which was written by Cleveland musician Bill Fox. if i had a hi-fi is in stores June 8th via the band’s label Mardev Records, but fans may purchase the album in CD and Vinyl format exclusively at their upcoming US tour dates.

Video Hook-Up: Murder By Death – “White Noise”

One of my all-time favorite bands, Murder by Death, just released a new video for their song “White Noise”. The video for was created by the Australian animator/design team of MaricorMaricar (Architecture in Helsinki, The Living End) and is “based on a treatment by the band’s cellist, Sarah Balliet, and explores the “ominous undercurrent” of the song”.

I can’t express more eloquently how much I love the new album, Good Morning, Magpie, so I will let the clip and mp3s speak for themselves.
