Vancouver-based indie-rockers The Ruffled Feathers have me in a tizzy with their latest video. The band set about writing, directing and filming a cinematic musical with next to no money and have now present for the world this amazing clip, “Blueprints For Our Failed Revolution.” I say, bravo. Seriously. Everyone needs to save their money and “buck up” and get it done themselves these days. The single here is from their upcoming full-length album and the band are giving away a free single on their Bandcamp page.

Yeah, I am a few days behind the curve, but this song is effing brilliant and anytime someone writes a chorus about the “jester of Tortuga,” I am down.

What’s that sound? Oh yeah. It’s The Cave Singers new video for “Black Leaf” and it’s awesome. Fresh from their new album No Witch, this clip follows tres lil’ hombres as their trek through their town. They find a monster and, yes, even a dead owl.
Yuck.

After a long, terrible Winter in NYC, I can’t help but think about the West Coast. San Diego’s The Donkeys drop their latest single for “Don’t Know Who We Are” from their new album Born With Stripes. Not many bands can say that they’ve been recreated in piñata form.

I was recently told that this song happens to be the greatest, most relaxing song to try “ear candling” to. I have literally NO idea what they hell that is supposed to mean, but it’s not my opinion, I am just relaying the facts.
So, here’s the mystery: I am going to post some facts from Wikipedia. The video will be after the jump and you should just guess and see if you can get it. Cool?
“This legendary song” is a song by rock band [redacted], and one of the band’s most recognizable songs. It was included on their 1982 album Hahahahaha, not making it that easy, and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in February 1983 and number three on the UK Singles Chart the same month. The song was written by the band’s keyboardist and drummer.
“The initial idea for the song came from unnamed member of the band, playing on his piano. Other guy explains the idea behind the song: “… a white boy is trying to write a song on a place, but since he’s never been there, he can only tell what he’s seen on TV or remembers in the past.”

Vermont rockers Chamberlin are hitting the road in support of their debut album, Bitter Blood, out now on Roll Call/EMI. The album is stained with the sounds of hard winters in the “north country” and whiskey-fueled revelry. The tour will be hitting a ton of great locations (Brooklyn, what!), so see them when they are in your “neck of the woods.”

Welp, it’s been an interesting week. Sure, my doctor didn’t believe that I needed antibiotics last week, but I needed them this week, didn’t I?
This video comes direct from our good friends (seriously, I mean it) in The Wicked Tomorrow. The “dynamic duo” has continued to cultivate their sultry garage rock out to the masses and the recent exposure of SXSW will surely put their name on the tips of many hipster tongues (sorry Hipsters, your tongues are being borrowed for talking right now. Go read your Jean-Paul Sartre novels later, mmm kay?). The band is currently up for NYC Artist of the Month from The Deli Magazine, so it would be super rad of you all to go and support the duo by VOTING HERE.

It might just be the effects of this wicked cold, but I have been listening to a ton of Brit-hop lately. The Streets and Dizzee Rascal are both on heavy repeat on my computer. Well, it appears that the good people “across the pond” are about to drop their latest member of the “British rapper” game onto us with Ipswich, England’s own DELS. DELS, who is signed to London’s Big Dada and will be releasing his debut album, GOB on May 24th.
Needless to say, I am stoked.

Today, we’re filling in some gaps with an awesome song and video from North Carolina outfit, Mount Moriah. Principle members Heather McEntire (of post-punk veterans Bellafea) and Jenks Miller (of heavy-psych/metal outfit Horseback) were introduced in 2005 while working at a record store in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The duo as Un Deux Trois in 2007, but decided to make the partnership permanent and focus on their interest in American folk and rock (read: Americana/Alt-Country…lol).

hermes are an English trio that I am totally in love with at the moment. There’s a quality to their music that I can “feel,” something that helps me connect to a part of my Many moons ago, back when I was young and dumb and in college, I was lucky enough to spend a Spring Break in Cirencester. Yes, I went to England…in March. Smart idea, I know, but the idea was that I would (or so I thought) close to London and Bath and rad stuff. I thought I would be taking in all sorts of rad shows and hanging. …read full article…

Wavves have put out a new video for their single, “King of the Beach.” In the video, they play FIFA (so I included that in the preview images due to my love for all things football soccer) and head to the beach. Pretty straight forward stuff, people.

As an ardent supporter of all things “upstate New York,” it’s always been a source of pride to see the success of Phantogram. They’re from one town over from where I grew up (and where I got married), so I want to support all things Saratoga. The new video is for “When I’m Small” and if you’ve got a crush on Sarah Barthel like 90% of the world should, you’ll really enjoy looking at her in this clip.
After the success of last year’s debut Eyelid Movies, the band are still supporting the release in a big way.
